Hifi Box 300/400/500

Hello,

I suppose (I'm pretty sure) that this topic is a "old one" topic discussed previously in the historical forum, but I think that it could be interesting for people outside Italy to read such a discussion.

Those three box are famous as the best two ways speakers produced by Grundig, but it would be interested to have your got feeling : differences ?, uses case (which boxes with wich uses or rooms) ?, setp up tricks ?, behavior with LT or Grundig amplifier.

I have the three models, love the 300 and the 400 and consider the 500 behind in terms of transparency, but that's my feeling !

The 400 is closed to the 300, more "powerfull" but with the abalibility to "desappearing" less important.

Of course if you consider that this discussion represents no interest, feel free to cancel it. My intention is just to "launch" some topics in english..

Yes, the Box 300 is the best!
The Box 400 is similar but have not the same transparency.
The Box 500 is a very good honesty Box.

I'd be happy to let you hear what a pair of SL1000s can do when placed in the conditions of having four environmental reinforcements ... and drived with a full CCI system. It is an experience that I believe should be experienced at least once in an audiophile's life.
Do you have test in your room the box 600 ? it is perhaps the three-way that most resembles a two-way ...

For the SL1000 as soon as I can planed that I will go to Ravenna... I believe you Massimo. For the 600 I take a look currently to eBay or French occasion, why not ! Should I use a Bose stand or a box 2500a ?

I know Filippo, but I would like to say that box 300 are able to make music anywhere whatever the position you adopt for the boxes, even if that’s not optimal in terms of position.

Happy to have few answers and I hope that it encourages other persons to share their opinions !

I'm pleased to read your messages Buzz.

It is known that my favourite loudspeakers are SL1000 and Box300.
The little 300s sound surprisingly rich and free, just like Box400s: the very difference is that the 300s tone is as balanced as the 3 ways "A Professional" Grundig boxes, while 400 is not so good in this area.
I havent't listened Massimo's SL1000 yet: I'll sure do it as soon as possible. I'm anyway using them for 15 years and I love their sound.

"Magic" is the only definition I can give to the little 300s.

I’m always thinking that the 300 boxes is the only speakers I should bring on a desert island if I have to choose one !...except if I have four reinforcements walls, isn’t it Massimo ?

I think both the bose stand (with sponge) and the shelf solution with the 2500 underneath is a good solution for the box 600. Try it in your room ... provided that in both cases the 600 are close to the back wall.

Thanks Massimo, as soon as I will find the 600 I will try. This we I will replace the 400 by the 300, but one day I will try to listen the 2500 without ´ap’ ....I didn’t listen this boxes I’m just using as a « stand »
